India is not expected to be affected by Cyclone Mocha; Alert for rain in these areas.
A warning has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department that Cyclone Mocha, which is currently forming over the Bay of Bengal, is expected to intensify into a severe storm by Friday, May 12.

It is anticipated that the cyclone will bring winds of up to 130 kmph. However, the MET department predicted that cyclone Mocha would not reach the Indian coast.
At first recognized as a very much checked low-pressure region, it formed into a downturn on Tuesday night, bringing twists going from 45 to 55 kmph and whirlwinds to 65 kmph over the south-east Sound of Bengal, as indicated by the India Meteorological Division.
By the evening of May 10, the weather system is anticipated to move in a north-northwest direction, gradually gaining strength, and transform into a cyclonic storm over the same area. By the morning of May 11, it will have increased in intensity and become a severe cyclonic storm, and it will eventually become a very severe cyclonic storm by midnight, both over the southeast and the central Bay of Bengal.
After that, the system is likely to gradually alter course and move north-northeast. It is expected to make landfall between Cox's Bazar (Bangladesh) and Kyaukpyu (Myanmar) during the late morning long periods of May 14, 2023.
By 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the weather system is expected to intensify further and become a deep depression. Inside the following 12 hours, it is expected to develop into Twister Mocha, with wind speeds going from 80 to 90 kmph and whirlwinds to 100 kmph.
